The Rubenstein Memorial Coaching Award

UpdatedFriday September 11, 2015 byJBL.

In addition to basketball games and instructional clinics, JBL stands for sportsmanship, integrity, sense of community, commitment, tolerance and inclusiveness. In that vein, an everlasting tribute has been established honoring the memories of Rabbi Jacob Rubenstein and Rebittzen Debbie Rubenstein, z”l.

At the conclusion of each season, the Rubenstein Memorial Coaching Award will be presented to an outstanding coach in each division who exemplifies leadership, tolerance, hard work, dedication, commitment, teamwork, character, patience, sportsmanship, integrity and inclusiveness. These core values were constantly demonstrated and espoused by the Rubensteins.

Rabbi and Debbie Rubenstein were supporters of JBL and very proud of the fact that JBL proactively drew families from a variety of schools and  of varying degrees of Jewish observance and backgrounds to play and interact with one another. Rabbi Rubenstein was well-respected and known countywide, statewide, countrywide and worldwide as one who encouraged tolerance and inclusiveness. It is with great pride, honor and humility that JBL will be able to do its small part to honor their memories and values.
